GUANGZHOU, Jan. 9 – Recently, Guangzhou Dinghao Furniture Co., Ltd., a high-end custom furniture enterprise integrating R&D, production and sales, publicly demonstrated the on-site test of its self-developed stained maple burl veneer at its R&D base in Conghua High-tech Industrial Development Zone. The test results showed that the veneer maintained excellent color stability after three days of outdoor exposure to sun and rain, successfully addressing the long-standing industry pain point of yellowing and discoloration of stained veneers.
As a key material in high-end furniture customization, stained veneers are favored for their unique texture and diverse color options. However, traditional stained veneers are prone to yellowing, fading and texture damage under the influence of light, temperature and humidity changes, which has become a major bottleneck restricting the quality upgrade of high-end wooden furniture. To solve this problem, Dinghao Furniture has invested heavily in R&D, combining Italian design concepts and processes with Chinese woodworking craftsmanship, and launched a targeted improvement plan for stained veneer processing technology.
The on-site test focused on the yellowing resistance performance of the newly developed purple-stained maple burl veneer. At 9:56 a.m. on July 8, the R&D team packaged two test samples and placed them in an open outdoor area for natural exposure, recording the environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity and sunlight intensity in real time. During the three-day test period, the samples experienced alternating sunshine and rainfall, which simulated the harsh natural environment that furniture may encounter in long-term use.
When the samples were retrieved at 7:20 p.m. on July 10, the packaging showed obvious signs of weathering, but the stained veneer samples inside remained in good condition. By comparing with the original samples, the R&D team found that there was no significant discoloration of the veneer surface, only a slight faint yellowing in the area with the strongest sunlight exposure, and the overall color difference (ΔE) was controlled within 1.5, meeting the international high-end standard for color stability. This result indicates that Dinghao Furniture's improved process has effectively enhanced the yellowing resistance of stained veneers.
"We have optimized the process from two core links: veneer source treatment and paint technology," said Cao Heng, General Manager of Dinghao Furniture. "On the one hand, we have strengthened the pre-treatment of raw veneers to reduce the content of substances that cause yellowing; on the other hand, we have adopted advanced water-based coating technology and environmentally friendly adhesives, which not only reduce VOC emissions but also form a protective layer on the veneer surface to resist external environmental erosion." He added that the technology has passed multiple rounds of simulated environment tests and fully complies with the ISO 105-B02 standard for light fastness testing.
Founded in 2007, Dinghao Furniture has established a 30-mu production and R&D base with an investment of over 100 million yuan, equipped with advanced woodworking, painting and testing equipment. In 2015, the company acquired the Italian brand "BUVMAMO" and introduced European and American furniture concepts, focusing on creating high-end water-based paint solid wood custom furniture. With its outstanding R&D capabilities, the company has been rated as a "High-tech Enterprise" for six consecutive years, and its products are sold well at home and abroad, covering high-end residential customization, five-star hotel furniture, high-end commercial displays and other fields.
Industry insiders pointed out that Dinghao Furniture's breakthrough in the yellowing resistance test of stained veneers not only improves the quality stability of its own products but also provides a new solution for the industry's technical upgrading. As consumers' demand for high-quality, environmentally friendly and durable furniture continues to rise, the application of this technology will help Dinghao Furniture further consolidate its position in the high-end custom furniture market and promote the high-quality development of China's woodworking industry.
It is reported that the stained veneer with optimized yellowing resistance technology has entered mass production and will be first applied to the high-end custom product line under the BUVMAMO brand, bringing more durable and high-quality choices to consumers pursuing elegant and healthy living spaces.
